Mgr. David Kremeník
My name is David. I'm a psychologist, couples and family counselor, and a Gestalt therapist in training.I work with individuals and couples, in both Czech and English. I believe that things are easier when we don't have to face them alone. I offer you my full attention, care, and energy — so that you can start to feel better. It would be an honor to be part of your journey.
I'm currently open to working with new clients.
What I Can Help You With
- You're struggling in your relationship — communication isn't working, the relationship feels stuck or in crisis, there's dissatisfaction in your sex life, infidelity has occurred, or there's ongoing conflict.
- You feel lonely or disconnected. Your relationships with family or friends aren't fulfilling.
- You're experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, including panic attacks.
- You feel exhausted, have trouble sleeping or coping with daily life, and are under high stress.
- You're going through a difficult life situation — a divorce, the loss of a loved one, or a serious medical diagnosis.
- Past experiences or traumatic memories are resurfacing, and you feel stuck in the past.
- You're dissatisfied with your performance at work, in sports, or in your personal life.
- You want to grow, understand yourself better, strengthen your relationship, or take care of your mental health preventively.
My Therapeutic Approach
My work is primarily grounded in Gestalt therapy (more about Gestalt therapy here), and also draws from motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and couples and family counseling. I aim to meet clients where they are — working with what they bring in the moment, whether they come as individuals or as a couple.
My focus is on building a therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe, accepted, and able to explore themselves.
When working with couples, I pay close attention to the subjective experiences of both partners — their perspectives, needs, and relational wounds. I aim to create a safe space where both partners can explore the dynamics of their relationship, deepen their connection, and name what is working and fulfilling in their partnership.
My work is anchored in the present moment. I believe that what is happening here and now — and how we relate to it — is often the most important starting point for change.
While dialogue is the primary way I work, I also offer experiments: opportunities to try out new ways of thinking, feeling, or behaving. These might include working with dreams, with the body and bodily sensations, or with techniques such as the "empty chair" experiment.
I work in a non-directive way. I don't see myself as an expert on my clients' lives or relationships. Rather, I see myself as a companion and guide — someone who walks alongside my clients, respecting their individuality and unique needs. This doesn't mean I'm passive or silent; I do share what comes up for me and what might be helpful. But I don't believe it's my role to give fixed advice or ready-made solutions.
Further Information About Working Together
I usually work with individuals on a weekly basis, in 50-minute sessions, and with couples every two weeks, in 80-minute sessions. Especially at the beginning of the process, this level of regularity is important. As our work continues, it's possible to adjust the frequency by mutual agreement. The number of sessions is entirely up to you.
At the start of our first session, we'll talk through the possibilities of working together. I'll introduce you to the informed consent, and I'll be interested in hearing what brings you to therapy and what kind of support you're looking for.
Below you can find the informed consent document – it outlines the rules of our cooperation and my ethical standards.
About Me
I graduated from psychology at the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno. I am currently training in a comprehensive Gestalt therapy program at Gestalt Studia. I have also completed courses in Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and several other specialized trainings. At the moment, I work as a psychologist at the Marriage and Family Counseling Center (Manželská a rodinná poradna Buzkova) Brno. In the past, I also worked at the STŘED crisis hotline (Linka důvěry STŘED) . During my studies, I was actively involved in volunteer work — primarily with the SPOLU Project (not to be confused with the political coalition of the same name) and the organization Práh South Moravia (Práh jižní Morava), where I later coordinated the volunteer program. You'll find more about my education and work experience below.
In my free time, I enjoy regular physical activity — currently running and strength training. I read a lot of professional literature and occasionally fiction (I especially enjoy fantasy and have recently started exploring science fiction). I love cooking. I enjoy spending time in nature, but I also appreciate quiet moments alone — reading a book or playing computer games. Spending time with friends, family, and my wife brings me a lot of joy. I find meaning in moving between different polarities: I meditate, practice relaxation techniques, and sometimes need complete silence and stillness — but I also love listening to metal music, challenging myself during workouts, or going on intense hikes in the mountains
